Semaglutide

Semaglutide treatments are weight loss injections that you might also see branded as Ozempic or Wegovy. This medication works by mimicking the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormones that occur naturally in your body. Bodies produce GLP-1 hormones when we eat, and this response makes us create more insulin, slows down the digestive process and naturally lowers blood sugar. The entire process results in you feeling more satisfied and less inclined to overeat, helping you to lose weight and to keep it off.

TIRZEPATIDE

You can also talk to our team about Tirzepatide, an injectable that can help manage type 2 diabetes, regulate blood sugar, and help with weight loss. Like Semaglutide, Tirzepatide works by mirroring your body’s own naturally occurring hormones – in this case, mimicking glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinoropic polypeptide (GIP) – prompting your body to produce insulin, and, as with Semaglutide, most people who take Tirzepatide feel significantly reduced hunger cravings and are able to manage their weight better.

Am I a good candidate for medical weight loss injections?

Patients who have a BMI over 30 may benefit from weight loss injections. This weight management program may also benefit patients who have a BMI of 27 or greater who additionally have weight-related medical issues, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes.

Who should not use a Semaglutide/Tirzepatide medical weight management program?

These weight loss injections may not benefit patients with certain conditions. If you have a personal history of pancreatitis or a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), you should not use these weight loss injections.

What are the benefits?

There are fairly universal benefits to taking Semaglutide or Tirzepatide. Each person’s metabolism and response can be different.

  • Curb cravings
  • Lowers blood sugar
  • Lowers cardiovascular risk factors associated with obesity

Before
After

Dr. M and her staff were and are very professional and personable.  On my first visit to her office, I felt like we were old friends.  She listened to my concerns and together we came up with a plan to help me lose the weight I had gained during the COVID pandemic.  When I started to have side effects from the medication, she went to work to find something else that would work better for me. I have been so pleased with her that she now sees my teenage son.  She has been so encouraging to him and he has done well with the plan she established for him.  Since seeing her, he has lost 35lbs and I have lost over 50lbs.  We both feel great!

Why is it effective?

This treatment is based on solid science and works with your body to quiet cravings and help stabilize your blood sugar. By acting as GLP-1, a naturally occurring intestinal hormone, it is able to last a long time in your body, actively working to keep your appetite at bay and help you feel full.

Unlike other weight loss treatments, you won’t have to deal with cravings or feel like you’re depriving yourself while you’re on this treatment. Instead, you’ll just naturally feel like you’ve had enough to eat, which leads to sustainable, long-term weight loss.

What is treatment like?

During your consultation, we will assess your weight loss goals, current habits and InBody your current weight with our InBody Composition machine to determine if this treatment may help you safely achieve your weight loss goals.

If we determine that weight loss injections are likely to positively support your medical weight loss journey, you can start treatment. Once your blood work results are back and your prescription comes in, you’ll come back to the office for a quick follow up to go over dosing and other important information. We recommend that you come in weekly to receive a quick injection of your specific dose at our office, however, self injection at home with an option (please note that full payment is due ahead of time for this option). During your monthly assessment, we will give you body assessments and monitor your progress. In addition, we will provide any other services to help boost your weight loss that you choose based on our packages. We will coach you through the entire process.

The injections themselves are relatively painless and easily tolerated. The fine needle is inserted subcutaneously (just below the skin), not in muscle or blood vessels. We rotate the injection site weekly. It is usually given in the skin of the stomach, upper arm or thighs.

Note, there is no downtime.

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

We recommend at least 12 weeks of treatment, however, this varies based on the goal weight an individual has and the other lifestyle changes that are being made.

Although all medical weight loss clinics may offer different programs, research shows that approximately 10% is the amount of weight you can lose and keep off with the combination of Semaglutide medications and accountability coaching. You may likely see your weight loss be more than 10%, but we set that as a baseline goal because it makes a significant difference in our body and health.
